The Simplistic Pictures Animation Award is an annual award granted to the student who submits the most outstanding animated film to The Cleveland Institute of Art's annual E.M.I.T Film Festival. The award for 2007 was delivered in the form of $1600 in financial aid, granted for merit only, and is to be used in the following academic year. If the winner chooses to take an approved leave of absence, the aid may be applied to the year following his or her time away. In the event that the winning selection is submitted by a graduating senior, the award is granted in the form of a cash prize.

Full-time students enrolled in any discipline with the school may submit a film or films for consideration. A jury convened by the Chair of the T.I.M.E./Digital Arts Environment shall determine the winner, who will be announced at the annual E.M.I.T. Film Festival. Award sponsors Kevin Geiger (Class of '89) and Moon Seun (Class of '89) shall be invited to sit on the jury each year. An individual may win the award in consecutive years for different films, provided he or she meets the requirements stated above.

Kevin Geiger and Moon Seun fund the scholarship each year, and have chosen to create this award in order to encourage creativity of concept and excellence in execution of animated films by Institute students.
